Privacy Policy
The short version. Hamsa keeps what you tell it so it can show you patterns and help you prepare for a clinician visit. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never share it with an employer or insurer. Hamsa does not automatically share your health information with your healthcare providers. You control whether to download and share reports generated by Hamsa. You can export or delete everything at any time.
Who we are
Hamsa is a daily check-in companion for perimenopause and menopause, provided by Hamsa AI, Inc. ("we", "us") over WhatsApp. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
What you tell us, what you ask us to fetch, and a basic record of how you use Hamsa:
| What | Examples |
|---|---|
| Contact | Your WhatsApp phone number, or the mobile number you sign in with on our website. An email address only if you ask us to email you a report. |
| About you | Month and year of birth, sex assigned at birth. |
| Reproductive health | Age at first period, menopause stage, period changes and dates, hysterectomy or ovary removal, birth control. |
| Hormone therapy | What you take, how, the dose, and when you started, changed, switched or stopped - kept as a history so your report can show before and after a change. |
| Health history | Medical conditions, family history (including your mother's or sisters' menopause age), medications and supplements, drug allergies and reactions, screening dates (mammogram, Pap smear, colon screening, bone density). |
| Lifestyle | Tobacco, vaping, alcohol and recreational drug use, if you choose to answer. |
| Daily check-ins | How you rate your thinking, sleep and symptoms (such as anxiety, low mood, low energy, hot flashes); the words shown and your answers in the word recall task, and your answers in the number task; sleep hours if you give them; notes you type. |
| Events you log | Things you tell us happened (for example log lost a word in a meeting), and what helped on a good day. |
| Questionnaires | Answers and scores for screening questionnaires you choose to take - for depression (PHQ-9), anxiety (GAD-7), adult ADHD (ASRS) and our own brain fog check. |
| Ask Hamsa | The questions you ask about your check-ins, and the answers we send. |
| Clinician Prep | Who you're seeing, what you want to discuss, and the report and PDF we prepare for you. |
| Wearable data | If you connect an Oura ring: sleep score, readiness, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep hours and temperature deviation. |
| Feedback | Your answers if we ask how the check-in is working for you. |
| Settings | Reminder schedule and time zone; which brain tasks you chose; the date and version of this policy you agreed to. |
| How you use Hamsa | Which screens you open, when, and whether a reply was understood - so we can see where people get stuck. Never the words you type. |
Answering is optional. Anything you skip is simply not recorded.
How we use it
- To run your check-ins and show you your own trends and patterns.
- To prepare a report you can bring to your clinician.
- To send the reminders you asked for.
- To see where Hamsa is confusing or hard to use, so we can fix it. We look at which screens people use, never what anyone types.
- To check that Ask Hamsa's answers are correct: each day we review the previous day's questions and answers against our rules. That review stays on our servers; any email about it carries counts only.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to fix problems.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence models. Your scores are calculated by fixed rules, not by an AI model. When you ask Hamsa a question, the answer is worked out by fixed rules too; an AI service reads your question to understand it and may put the answer into friendly words, which we check against your data before sending.
Hamsa is not medical care
Hamsa does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice, and no clinician reviews your messages. Questionnaires are screening tools, not diagnoses. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US, or call 911.
If you mention harming yourself
If a message you type, or a questionnaire answer, mentions thoughts of harming yourself, Hamsa replies with crisis contacts straight away. We also keep a small record that it happened - when, and an identifier that is not your phone number - never what you typed, so a person on our team can review it. No one is contacted on your behalf.
Text messages
We text you a code when you sign in on our website. If you choose text reminders, we text you a check-in reminder on the days and at the time you pick, never more than one a day. Choosing text reminders is optional and is not needed to use Hamsa. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop text reminders at any time, or HELP for help.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number, or your consent to receive text messages, with any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, except the providers that deliver our messages (listed below).
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers to run Hamsa. Each receives only what it needs:
| Provider | Why | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Meta (WhatsApp) | Carries messages between you and us | Every message, under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy |
| Twilio | Connects WhatsApp to our service, and sends our text messages (sign-in codes, and text reminders if you choose them) | Every message and the charts and reports we send, your mobile number for texts, and message logs |
| Fly.io | Hosts our servers and stores your records, in the United States | Your stored records |
| Tigris (on Fly.io) | Keeps an encrypted backup copy of our data | Encrypted files only; it cannot read them |
| Groq and Anthropic (AI services; we use one or the other) | Understands a sentence you type to open the right screen; understands questions you ask Hamsa and words the answers; tidies the note you add to your Clinician Prep | That one sentence, question or note; for a question, also the few figures its answer uses (such as "trouble sleeping was Significant or Severe on 7 of 14 days") - never your name, phone number or stored records |
| Sentry | Tells us when something breaks | Technical error reports and counts, with message text and phone numbers removed |
| Oura | Only if you connect your ring | Nothing from us; we fetch your own data with your permission |
| Your email provider | Only if you ask us to email a report | That report |
Hamsa does not automatically share your health information with your healthcare providers. You control whether to download and share reports generated by Hamsa. We do not send your data to any clinician, practice, employer or insurer.
We share information only when the law requires it, and we'll tell you first whenever we're allowed to.
How long we keep it
- Your records are kept until you delete them, or your account.
- Reports reach you as a document in WhatsApp; the link we use to deliver one works once and expires within minutes. Charts and report pages we generate are removed within 24 hours.
- Our host keeps daily snapshots for 5 days. We also keep a weekly encrypted backup for 12 weeks. If you delete your data, it is gone from our service at once and from backups when they age out.

- Delete - reply delete data to permanently erase your records, including your reports, charts, safety records and your Ask Hamsa questions in our daily review. This works at any time, even before you agree to this policy.
